Dancing to the Little Bo Peep

Are you a new parent looking for methods or techniques to help benefit your child.? As a parent or a teacher our goal is for our students or our kids to excel in life. If a child is exposed to different learning techniques or activities from the start then its proving they will learn so much easier. For example for kids especially ages from newborn to 5 years old its extremely important to expose them to things like nursery rhymes, children songs, or any type child collaboration activities to help promote early literacy, mathematics, etc.

Specifically nursery rhymes have a tremendous impact on children. They allow kids to develop an ear for words and syllables that rhyme which can ultimately teach them how to read. Nursery rhymes also help toddlers interact with other activities like finger play. This type of activity can help improve memory development, language skills, eye-hand coordination, and both gross and fine motor skills. Whether its in a preschool or daycare type of environment, at home environment, or even things like story time in the library, nursery rhymes are something that are song all the time. One of the most popular rhymes is Dancing to the Little Bo Peep, if you have have never heard of the this rhyme, it is originally an English rhyme written partially in the early 1800. There was even a reference of the rhyme in a 16th century Shakespeare’s play of King Lear. The meaning of the rhyme is basically what you hear in the song, about Little Bo Peep losing her sheep and not knowing where to find them.

In any type of preschool or daycare environment teachers use this nursery rhyme to teach children about counting things like animals. With the teachers getting their students to listen to the rhyme, they are able to get their children to kids get together and have some sort of activity. Any type of game or activity that helps them follow the rhyme can allow them to start counting their sheep until the reach the point in the rhyme that miss bo peep gets all her sheep back. The point is to get children to simply interact and follow instructions of their teachers about counting, sing, etc. Most of the time children don’t even realize that they are learning and grasping all this wonderful amount of knowledge because they are simply just having fun. For other children that don’t attend preschool yet, parents or caretakers can take their kids to other activites like mommy and me, or story time at the library, etc. By taking babies, toddler, preschoolers to these places, their mind expands and children are able to follow with singing, counting, learning about farms and other animals, etc. Any type of activity which allows children to benefit from nursery rhymes like this one has been proven to have a huge impact on their life.
