Lullabies for Kids

Did you know that lullabies such as, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” can actually assist your child in learning and growing? Just by singing a lullaby to your child you are giving him/her some very useful tools that are not only beneficial to their early development but essential for their growth and learning abilities as well.

How Lullabies Aide in Your Child’s Growth and Learning Skills
By singing a lullaby to your child you are helping them to develop:

• Memory skills
• Capability to predict outcomes, as your child determines what will come next.
• How to recognize sounds and patterns while associating the two together.
• How to mimic the singer, by learning the words to the lullaby and singing along
• And much more

Another great benefit of singing your child a lullaby is it can help kids develop motor skills while swaying side to side, clapping their hands to the beat, or just by jumping around. This will help them to learn how to use their hands, arms, feet, and legs.

Different Songs for Different Measures
Lullabies come in a large variety of types and sounds. When played, depending on the melody and tempo, lullabies can both hype your child up; giving them loads of energy to play and have fun, or they can help your child to sleep. Just singing a song like, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” in a soft quiet tone like a whisper, gets a child so tired that, before you know it, they will go right to sleep.

Songs like “Head, Shoulder’s, Knees and Toes” does a great job of helping your child identify common body parts. Moreover, as they reach for their head and then bend to touch their toes, children get plenty of exercises that, not only will keep them in tip-top shape but will also increase their heart health as they develop and grow.

One of my favorite lullabies for kids is, “If you’re Happy and you know it”. Why? It requires the participation of all those who join in, which needless to say, promotes participation, not just with the song, but with others in the group. In other words, “teamwork”!

Playing with your child can be very enjoyable and it is important because it will help you and your child to have fun together while forming a special bond between you. Singing lullabies with your child is also beneficial, as it helps to relax him/her with a sense of security.
