Nursery Rhymes Actives for Kids

Bring Nursery Rhymes to Life for Kids With Activities
Nursery Rhymes are full of animals and things like sheep, cakes, mice, and so many more. The nursery rhyme activities provide a perfect opportunity for kids to grow. Teaching kids nursery rhymes at home is a way for parents to continue their children’s education beyond school. Here are a few fun activities kids of all ages can have fun with throughout the year.

Artwork

There is always a chance to draw pictures, make crafts, or mold clay figures of the different animals and things in nursery rhymes. With the rhyme “Itsy Bitsy Spider”, kids can create small little spiders from many different materials. Small black soft pom poms can be found in craft stores. Little googly eyes are fun to glue on the pom poms. Little legs can be made from construction paper. The legs can also be glued onto the body. Webs can be made out of the yarn, cut out of construction paper, and many other materials. Parents can get creative also with picking out the materials for the kids to use to make their favorite nursery rhyme characters.

Plays

Having kids play characters of nursery rhymes gives them a chance to express their dramatic side. Costumes can be made easily from pieces of clothing that represent the characters in the rhymes. There is no need to spend too much money on props. Just getting the kids to participate helps them learn about acting.

Legos

Legos can be made into just about anything. Kids can pick their favorite nursery rhyme like ” Humpty Dumpty” and create a wall for a lego Humpty to fall off of. This is an opportunity for the kids to make their own choices on what colors they want to make the charcaters. The nice thing is legos don’t break so the kids can put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Food Fun

Cooking is a great activity for kids. Parents can keep it simple, but make fun foods like cookies in the shape of their favorite nursery rhyme characters. With food coloring and frosting, it is easy to bring nursery rhymes to life with delicious foods in the shape or likeness of nursery rhyme characters. Always be safe when cooking and always cook with the children. Allow the kids to do the easy activities like mixing and pressing cookie cutters. The kids can do the steps that do not involve the oven or stove. Everyone can sing while they bake.

Activites involving nursery rhymes are a great way to educate kids on more than one skill. They can learn more about the nursery rhyme thanks to bringing characters to life through cooking, acting, and more. Nursery rhymes make kids smile and help them feel good that they can understand and know something new. Parents will love keeping kids busy and entertained by trying some of these nursery rhyme activities.
