The revolution in printing was the first big step in getting coloring books out to a wider audiences. The invention of the lithography was the first big step in computer printing today.the lithography was invented in 1796, it became mainstream and moved to the U.S from Europe in the 1850’s, which overtime was perfected in 1870. It allowed for printing to be easier and produce thousands of images in a more sufficient time period. Overtime the industry was printing out gorgeous paperwork with cheaper tools allowing for more intuitive technology.
Coloring books can be therapeutic
Over 10 years ago there was a study on women with cancer and taking the art of coloring as emotional relieve. The patients emotional distress by the surgery was reduced tremendously when they were actively stimulating there mind with the coloring books. There was also a second study that showed people had a significant uplift in their mood while in the hospital and was encouraged to continue their activities to make the process smoother for all parties involved.
Coloring books have also helped to sway people away from a lot of other destructive habits, such as drugs, alcohol abuse, and other self-destructive habits. From the beginning coloring books have taught us how to stay between the lines, while also putting our creative touch to things.
